<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">Years ago I ran a swap on Stampin' Connection to create punch samplers. </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">It helps to see which shape will best fit the stamped image I want to use and vice versa.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;"> I LOVE this thing and I highly recommend you make yourself one. Since mine was assembled by collecting the punched pieces of card stock (CS) from many different people, it is a mish-mash of colors. We used 3"x3" pieces of CS (you get 16 from a single 12"x12" sheet), punched out and labeled the square with the name of the punch. To get them all on a ring, punch a 1/8" hole in the same spot on each piece (or do what I did and use this project as an excuse to acquire a Bind-It-All!!) Recently, I added the smaller die cuts I have to the ring as well as some of the actual punched shapes. I seem to take those off the ring to see how they look layered or on a card, so not sure if they will eventually have a ring of their own or something else.</span></span><br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">Since I use the punch sampler all the time, </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #222222;">I thought it might be useful to have a sampler for my embossing folders, too. I used 8.5"x11" cardstock this time, and cut each piece into 16. That keeps the sampler reasonably small, while still giving me a quarter of a card front worth of each texture. Running every EF I own through the Big Shot didn't take as long as I thought it would, and I love the result. Really helpful to decide which texture is the best fit for a given card, and I use EFs on almost every project.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Most of the cards that I've seen using the Nautical Expedition DSP are small prints; the backs of these papers have very large images, mostly more suitable for scrapbooking, which has been typical of Stampin' Up! DSP - small pattern on one side, large pattern on the other. For this quickie card, I used this lovely cutter ship from the "back" side of the paper, and embellished with a sanded and inked strip cut from a Kleenex box, a strip from the Cherry Cobbler red side of the paper and some Linen Thread. The Cherry Cobbler sentiment is from Vintage Labels, and I stamped just the edges of one of the images in the That's the Ticket set in Sahara Sand to form the background. Thanks for stopping by!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">First, I have to give credit to <a href="http://theefficientcrafter.blogspot.com/2015/03/0315Hop.html">The Efficient Crafter</a> for the idea. She made her box a little differently because she used patterned paper. I used cardstock, so I didn't need as many layers for the box to be strong enough. Also, to make my version you'll only need one 8.5"x11" sheet of Whisper White or Very Vanilla, and a half sheet of 12"x 12" of whatever color you choose for the outside, plus whatever you'd like to embellish with.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Score your 6"x 12" cardstock at 4 7/8 and 7 1/8. This will form the outside.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c6YYGk7W-wI/WVx6IWs_wBI/AAAAAAAAB18/uxXSDFTwqpYyWexMF7UzWptTFuZqo1rpACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_133328.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c6YYGk7W-wI/WVx6IWs_wBI/AAAAAAAAB18/uxXSDFTwqpYyWexMF7UzWptTFuZqo1rpACLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170704_133328.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">To create the two inner pockets, cut a 3/4" strip off of the long side of a sheet of 8.5"x11", then cut the remaining piece in half to get two 7 3/4" by 5 1/2" pieces. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UwDLdp1qdnM/WVx54K0lj2I/AAAAAAAAB14/aZkpF2hj5ysTMTkmWRc5m4GPd48obD9_gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_133357.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1382" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UwDLdp1qdnM/WVx54K0lj2I/AAAAAAAAB14/aZkpF2hj5ysTMTkmWRc5m4GPd48obD9_gCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_133357.jpg" width="276" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You're going to make a slanted pocket that looks like this from the outside. If you want the pocket to reach the top (it would look tidier), you'll need to cut two pieces that are 7 3/4" x 7" instead, but I thought this way would use less CS and once it's full of cards, it won't matter so much.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_piNFoSFiVo/WV51R69omHI/AAAAAAAAB4I/pJpO1kjPTKUcZf_XvtqZPZSQVBJRmh3UACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_205332.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1333" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_piNFoSFiVo/WV51R69omHI/AAAAAAAAB4I/pJpO1kjPTKUcZf_XvtqZPZSQVBJRmh3UACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_205332.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Measure up two inches from the bottom of one side flap on each piece and mark it. <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">At the 2" mark , make a cut straight across to the second score line.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qlAz39lVmNY/WVx6phpyhuI/AAAAAAAAB2M/TXr00r6pmdEcXrJDM99sRKN3KPbTIOovACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_133813.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qlAz39lVmNY/WVx6phpyhuI/AAAAAAAAB2M/TXr00r6pmdEcXrJDM99sRKN3KPbTIOovACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_133813.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now comes the tricky bit... cutting the diagonal. Turn your card stock along the cutting line from the top of your 2" flap to the top of the card stock where the next score line is... you can just make out the top one in my photo:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PnhzvqcpVnI/WVx6k0JUyRI/AAAAAAAAB2I/2A-CgjY3GBsT31hZoyVuQUfkSE94Q9hawCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_134144.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1486" data-original-width="1600" height="594" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PnhzvqcpVnI/WVx6k0JUyRI/AAAAAAAAB2I/2A-CgjY3GBsT31hZoyVuQUfkSE94Q9hawCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170704_134144.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You should end up with something like this:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JbakS4UzuU8/WVx6ry-4xrI/AAAAAAAAB2Q/gNMLQziYowkWfxEu-IcqsON-liUUn0G9wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_134243.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1187" data-original-width="1600" height="237" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JbakS4UzuU8/WVx6ry-4xrI/AAAAAAAAB2Q/gNMLQziYowkWfxEu-IcqsON-liUUn0G9wCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_134243.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Red liner tape is a strong adhesive, put it (or something similar) along the inner edge of all the 1/2" tabs, like this: </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XPttuTnCQgw/WVx66CQfv8I/AAAAAAAAB2U/0tmwQFtFfaIwZQe1vbZ4quiCHk6cCl32gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_140459.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="603" data-original-width="1600" height="150" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XPttuTnCQgw/WVx66CQfv8I/AAAAAAAAB2U/0tmwQFtFfaIwZQe1vbZ4quiCHk6cCl32gCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_20170704_140459.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span>(Hint: <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you're going to use Fast Fuse or an ATG, then you should wait until you're ready to assemble everything before putting adhesive on the tabs.)</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Decorate the cover and pockets at this stage. Much easier to do before everything is assembled! Also, since the length of ribbon you'll need depends on how wide it is, leave it attached to the spool at one end for now.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YcLhu38tk7s/WVx7WqzhKbI/AAAAAAAAB2g/sKjcLKHumq4ggHynARQVcI9-O6PsGBKjQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_150659.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="858" data-original-width="1600" height="340" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YcLhu38tk7s/WVx7WqzhKbI/AAAAAAAAB2g/sKjcLKHumq4ggHynARQVcI9-O6PsGBKjQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170704_150659.jpg" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For this box, I didn't adhere the ribbon, I used Dimensionals to make a channel for it underneath the die cut:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9sglBgXh3r8/WVx7P0u31xI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/MM687GLDBTMiSexjG6SKVMI2KK5tFiscgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_145917.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1027" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9sglBgXh3r8/WVx7P0u31xI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/MM687GLDBTMiSexjG6SKVMI2KK5tFiscgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_145917.jpg" width="205" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">To decorate the pockets, cut a 4 1/4" strip of DSP, then use a ruler parallel to the top edge of the pocket and mark the back where it should be cut.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1vUH7mspLLk/WVx8NmorRnI/AAAAAAAAB3A/-5dH6Q9xq1ECRJ2_DdZjB7n7YXqexhDJgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_152438.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1vUH7mspLLk/WVx8NmorRnI/AAAAAAAAB3A/-5dH6Q9xq1ECRJ2_DdZjB7n7YXqexhDJgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_152438.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The paper for inside of the spine measures 2" by 5 3/4"</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now would be a good time to attach another little piece of cardstock to your pockets if you want to create labels or store postage stamps.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JG-zyK9hD-o/WVx8DJ26L5I/AAAAAAAAB24/Nf6bPiveNP4at_cbiMdmVpkvLV__N1NEQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_204911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="788" data-original-width="1600" height="196" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JG-zyK9hD-o/WVx8DJ26L5I/AAAAAAAAB24/Nf6bPiveNP4at_cbiMdmVpkvLV__N1NEQCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_20170704_204911.jpg" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To be sure the stamps would fit, I folded them up and put them over the back of the die cut as I attached an adhesive strip to the bottom and one dimensional on each side:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kvD-aJs6JXs/WWFlRGZCVzI/AAAAAAAAB4o/uCyLA5lj20kat1bIa2u5ByKxphJeMdP7ACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170707_132241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kvD-aJs6JXs/WWFlRGZCVzI/AAAAAAAAB4o/uCyLA5lj20kat1bIa2u5ByKxphJeMdP7ACLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170707_132241.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Finally, adhere the pocket to the cover; bottom first, </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6M6HsDW_S-E/WVx734OiEBI/AAAAAAAAB20/DoOiFmCbVNQpz70dexAcvGTb08Mk7nfzwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_151322.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6M6HsDW_S-E/WVx734OiEBI/AAAAAAAAB20/DoOiFmCbVNQpz70dexAcvGTb08Mk7nfzwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_151322.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;">then long outer edge, then finish with the short inner edge. Remove the covering from just ONE piece of adhesive at a time, and take your time lining up the edges of the pockets and cover before you stick them down forever! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LVAL0cBTjSA/WVx7pz1LuiI/AAAAAAAAB2w/rbNvA35Dr2gGKduRO5W4I_VA3okqxAZ5QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_151019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1036" data-original-width="1600" height="207" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LVAL0cBTjSA/WVx7pz1LuiI/AAAAAAAAB2w/rbNvA35Dr2gGKduRO5W4I_VA3okqxAZ5QCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_151019.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">To try and make it look a bit more like a book, I squeezed the covers together to bend a little curve into the spine.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aGtEC0uf5X8/WVx8K_smVpI/AAAAAAAAB28/l2aRCQ1wPh4gMOrjLzV-k7BVcDlXAOFkgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170704_205102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1294" data-original-width="1600" height="258" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aGtEC0uf5X8/WVx8K_smVpI/AAAAAAAAB28/l2aRCQ1wPh4gMOrjLzV-k7BVcDlXAOFkgCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170704_205102.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Tie the ribbon into a bow and trim the ends... voila!! </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"> I used a die cut to create another little pocket on the inside that holds a book of postage stamps. Sweet!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I made one of these card-carriers full of note cards for my kid's teacher last month, and liked it so much I wanted to make some more, so this is for a special someone who never forgets a birthday or special occasion. Going to fill it with a little bit of everything; it will fit up to EIGHTEEN cards and envelopes if they are CAS, fewer if they have more embellishments. I just LOVE how this came out!!! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">These laser-cut cards were in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog a few years back and I finally opened the package!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This first one was embellished with Blushing Bride DSP and pleated ribbon as well as some Venetian Lace Crochet Trim. I don't think it could get any more feminine if it tried! I had to cut the card apart and trim it down a bit, then I used the die-cut panel as a card front and popped it up with lots of dimensionals. I think the shadow of the die cut on the DSP creates lovely depth to this card, don't you?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LEf6iMpB8uU/WV3Sr5_0qtI/AAAAAAAAB3o/HvDxz2PmetkKKStrkoH9FhAdb2Mig2r6gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170706_002319.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1251" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LEf6iMpB8uU/WV3Sr5_0qtI/AAAAAAAAB3o/HvDxz2PmetkKKStrkoH9FhAdb2Mig2r6gCLcBGAs/s400/IMG_20170706_002319.jpg" width="312" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This set of cards had some with floral die-cut hearts, and others with a lacy die-cut edge. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-me0VVxtuziE/WV3SryYLmaI/AAAAAAAAB3w/IgRhEhJtYBQctDmmW7d8p-w7VKHIwDngACEwYBhgL/s1600/IMG_20170706_002303.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="298" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-me0VVxtuziE/WV3SryYLmaI/AAAAAAAAB3w/IgRhEhJtYBQctDmmW7d8p-w7VKHIwDngACEwYBhgL/s400/IMG_20170706_002303.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;">I put a DSP behind the border with a pattern of Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip showing through the lace. Inside there's a pattern of pink glitter on an ivory background. The pink satin ribbon is held together with Fast Fuse, giving the front a little more interest and covering the seam between the papers on the inside. One piece of ribbon goes all the way around the front of the card, then a second smaller piece is folded in half and adhered to line up with one edge.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;">I think you could use these cards for feminine birthdays, weddings or valentines; what would you use them for?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; text-align: left;">These cards were created for the Feminine Anything Goes Watercooler Challenge. <a href="http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/2017/07/wwc126-fionas-feminine-anything-goes.html">Check out the other great submissions here</a>.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">CAS cards are really my favorite sort to make. Not a million things to coordinate and arrange, just let the designs of the stamps or papers shine and show their awesomeness! I love monochromatic cards for this same reason; I won't struggle to get the color combination just so, because it's all blue and white, like Delft china or Wedgewood.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Remember the Top Note Die? The original stitched edge die by Stampin' Up! Now they're all the rage again, but as Thinlets. I heat-embossed the flowers from Just Believe in Whisper White, stamped the sentiment from Express Yourself in Night of Navy onto the classic shape cut from Marina Mist card stock. Of course I used the MISTI to get everything where I wanted it... then a couple of glue dots and white butterflies from the Beautiful Wings embosslit all topped off with two tiny self-adhesive pearls.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I love my kids' schools. So. Much. Their teachers are just wonderful and I love it when I can find time to make them a gift. This year, instead of a plain-Jane box of note cards, I wanted to make a case that was just as cute and useful. I'm glad I stocked up on this Fruits and Flowers DSP while it was still available; the apples with heart-shaped cores are so perfect for elementary-school teachers, don't you think?</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Last night I finally found time to craft up some ideas for Father's Day cards that are simple enough for grade-school children to make, and that don't use the Big Shot, since this class is happening in my garage!! Whenever I'm making cards with kids, I always pull out the long-retired Pun Fun stamp set... cute, colorable, and well-suited to CAS (clean & simple) card designs. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">First, a card for coffee-loving Dads:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5mnlw2QhEjk/WUPktrqSPbI/AAAAAAAAB0I/DTfgpi_Bx0sBFSWzFlkHAxlH4wAYdqi6wCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170616_085526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="872" data-original-width="1146" height="486" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5mnlw2QhEjk/WUPktrqSPbI/AAAAAAAAB0I/DTfgpi_Bx0sBFSWzFlkHAxlH4wAYdqi6wCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170616_085526.jpg" title="Love You a Latte Father's Day Coffee Card" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">Love you a Latte from Pun Fun, cups from Every Little Bit, the largest Circle Punch and Window Frames Framelits (I'll just cut a few before class!)</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next, for the father who is fun:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CVcQ0vew1k8/WUPkrJ4JgUI/AAAAAAAABz8/hM-Cybt784gjEs0VRNQWibMZ28pzRgu0QCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170616_085504.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="You're a Blast" border="0" data-original-height="1182" data-original-width="948" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CVcQ0vew1k8/WUPkrJ4JgUI/AAAAAAAABz8/hM-Cybt784gjEs0VRNQWibMZ28pzRgu0QCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170616_085504.jpg" title="Pun Fun Father's Day Rocket Card" width="512" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">Pun Fun rocket & Every Little Bit star.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then I found this adorable dinosaur in a sandbox, and I bought it online, but can't remember the company:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tjjjkpr7laA/WUPksGMuv8I/AAAAAAAAB0A/1r125uOcehAraqd8CU42U05Wgkmx-avmQCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170616_085433%2B%25281%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="1535" data-original-width="1271" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tjjjkpr7laA/WUPksGMuv8I/AAAAAAAAB0A/1r125uOcehAraqd8CU42U05Wgkmx-avmQCLcBGAs/s640/IMG_20170616_085433%2B%25281%2529.jpg" title="Sandbox Dinosaur Father's Day dino-mite Card" width="528" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Does Dad brighten your day?</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I love the old Pun Fun stamp set. Between myself and my kids, I think it's gotten more use than any other stamp set I own! Every time I've used the rocket ship stamp, I use a little of this DCWV paper with stars on it, but this time I stamped the "You're a Blast!" greeting as a background on the other half of the card front, and added some shine with a Silver Glimmer Paper star punch. I'd have liked to have more smaller stars, I think, but I don't trust myself to cut them </span><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">freehand</span><span style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Today we're playing along with my talented friends: <b><a href="https://buffycooper.com/2017/04/21/take-it-or-leave-it-stamp-off-challenge/" target="_blank">Buffy</a>, <a href="https://susanstamps.wordpress.com/2017/04/21/a-take-it-or-leave-it-stamp-off-challenge-2/" target="_blank">Susan </a>& </b><a href="http://jackotterstamp.blogspot.com/2017/04/stamp-off-tin-of-cards-takeleave-it.html" target="_blank"><b>Jackie</b> </a>(hence BS&J). Be sure to click the links and check out their creations! My daughter and I both managed to incorporate ribbon and doilies, but I stopped her before she added cupcake images to the gorgeous card she had made!! I reminded her that it's Take it or Leave it, so if there was no food, she was okay!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I used a Stampin' Up! doily Thinlet on So Saffron CS, and glued a couple dozen scraps of Certainly Celery, Midnight Muse and Real Red behind it. The center is embellished with a retired In-Color Adornment that I have always thought looked like candies, so that is my "food" element!! The Chocolate Chip card base is embossed with a contraband folder by Tim Holtz and the little sentiment is from Lovely Little Labels (retired). Most of my colors have food names, though celery with chocolate and saffron probably looks better than it tastes!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">DD's card uses Papillion Potpourri and coordinating punch, doily stamp from Petal Potpourri, and sentiment from Chalk Talk (retired). We both used the same Certainly Celery twill ribbon (retired). Sorry for the shadows on her card... I'm going to say it's the screen, not that my windows need cleaning!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Darling Daughter played along with me again today because we ARE Crazy 4 Challenges! What a great sketch this is! I notice that the cards I've been making this week seem to use stamps from many sets, so I added the "challenge" that the card I made could only use ONE stamp set! </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Spring inspired me to choose Storybook Friends and this lovely Lost Lagoon DSP from the All Abloom stack. The mat, ink and ribbon are Soft Suede and the card base is Crumb Cake.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">DD liked the sparkle of this retired DSP and we paired it up with some Raspberry Ripple CS.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You know that rare and wonderful feeling when you make a card and it looks just as good in your hand as it did in your imagination? This is one of those cards for me. I liked this week's sketch at <a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2017/04/mojo-monday-493.html" target="_blank">Mojo Monday</a>, and thought it would look great with the butterfly circle stamp from Serene Silhouettes. Found a sweet little sentiment in the You're a Gem set that fit inside a circle stamp from Collage Curios... but what about a color scheme? I had just gotten some cute paper from My Mind's Eye, and it is a near-perfect match to SU! Lost Lagoon and Calypso Coral... and here is the result. Now to find a worthy recipient!!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This was a fun one! I colored the flowers from Beautiful Bunch (retired) with SU!'s chalk pastels (also </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">retired</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">); why did they discontinue those? </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I love the soft look, even if they are a little messy. I used the coordinating Fun Flower punch (retiring soon!) to make a mask so the chalk didn't end up all over the front of the card. Finally, MISTI to the rescue for that nice, straight sentiment! I never could get the Stamp-a-ma-jig to work for me. Yes, it took a little patience, but without the MISTI it wouldn't have mattered HOW long or how careful I was, that sentiment would have been crooked and my card would have looked yuck. Now, it's YILM!!</span><br />

Again, I rotated and flipped the sketch, mostly because I don't have any sentiments that read vertically and having the sentiment go the "wrong" way, well, it seemed wrong! This card feels like something is missing. Does it need an embellishment of some sort or maybe I shouldn't have used Cajun Craze ink on the middle stamp from Carte Postale? Layered stamped backgrounds with images from French Foliage; Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla CS; Soft Suede striped grosgrain ribbon; ink is Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Sahara Sand & Creamy Caramel. Shapes from Banner Thinlets, 1" square punch and postage stamp punch.<br />

Well, I followed the rules about the cards being all Stampin' Up!, but I'd be really surprised if anything other than some of the basic colors are still current. I'm really out of practice, but here goes...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JcXoG42yl6k/V57kvOlQXMI/AAAAAAAABl0/Qa9K9NLUrK08h60ghGLJHn80_94hs8K-ACLcB/s1600/IMG_20160801_0143549_rewind.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JcXoG42yl6k/V57kvOlQXMI/AAAAAAAABl0/Qa9K9NLUrK08h60ghGLJHn80_94hs8K-ACLcB/s400/IMG_20160801_0143549_rewind.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I flipped the sketch and rotated it 90 degrees. I was inspired by the DSP from one of the many mini-stacks I have. Those things are addictive - just $7 for SO many gorgeous patterns! I liked the colors and the splotches reminded me of bubbles, so I thought it would make a nice baby card with the duck from Every Little Bit stamped in Basic Gray and a sentiment from Delightful Dozen. Love how the silver cardstock ((layered with circle punches) and embossing powder look together, and the Lost Lagoon / Hello Honey in the DSP go well with the Baja Breeze ribbon and So Saffron DSP from an ancient Simply Scrappin' kit I still have bits from. Love how even tho colors retire, new colors still coordinate with old ones!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Looking at the "finished" card, I'm wondering, should I add a little yellow to those ducks? What do you think?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Cool new ideas from some of my favorite Stampin' Up! demonstrators is my idea of some March Madness to get truly excited about!! If you got here from <a href="http://heidistampinalong.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Heidi's blog</a>, I'm sure you agree.</span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My first contribution is inspired by the soon-to-be unavailable Sheer Perfection printed vellum. I accidentally used retired Midnight Muse instead of current color Night of Navy, but I think you'll get the idea!! I like the toile effect I got from stamping the Everything Eleanor flowers all over a sheet of vellum cardstock. Since I adhered the vellum to the back of the card, there's no worries about it showing through - nice! The sentiment from Lacy & Lovely is heat-embossed in white and one side of the punched oval is adhered to the card base with dimensionals. The other side of the oval has no adhesive, it just overlaps the vellum flap to keep it closed.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZPJ8MTm0ZWo/VQtSH_dv-9I/AAAAAAAABM4/UT7JdG6frbY/s1600/DSC00087.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZPJ8MTm0ZWo/VQtSH_dv-9I/AAAAAAAABM4/UT7JdG6frbY/s1600/DSC00087.JPG" height="400" width="312" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mg6C8-vPpMg/VQtSHXMDkFI/AAAAAAAABMw/71RptUtJL9A/s1600/DSC00083.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mg6C8-vPpMg/VQtSHXMDkFI/AAAAAAAABMw/71RptUtJL9A/s1600/DSC00083.JPG" height="320" width="209" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next, I tried rotating the card, and adding a little color to the back of the vellum with Stampin' Write markers. I think I like this one a little better, how about you?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm very excited to have my turn in the Creative Blog Hop! I was nominated by the lovely <a href="http://stampandcreate.net/creative-blog-hop/">Deb Smart</a> of Stamp and Create. I've met many kind and talented people online during my stints as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and I'm glad she's one of them. My contribution is what my friend <a href="http://buffycooper.com/">Buffy</a> likes to call a $400 card; not for beginners, because they haven't been collecting papercrafting supplies for years! I feel very lucky to have such variety at my fingertips now.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>The Questions:</b></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. What are you working on now? </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I have a couple of papercraft-based home decor items I'm working on as a housewarming present for my wonderful mother-in-law.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"></span></span><br style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;" />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">2. How does your work differ from others in your genre? </span><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"> I don't think I'm all that original!! So many people make greeting cards, and I often draw inspiration from others.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"></span></span><br style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;" />
<span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3. Why do you create what you do? </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I enjoy crafting & creating because it's relaxing for me; I think cards are the things I make most often because they are pretty, yet practical and don't take weeks to complete! </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"></span></span><br style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;" />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">4. How does your creative process work? I</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">t depends whether I'm creating for a specific person, or to have cards on hand. </span><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">This card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest; it used the Chalk Talk label with a butterfly in the center and a horizontal element across the card under the label. It had bright colors and a springy, contemporary feel. I knew I loved the sketch, but I thought maybe I could put a heart in the center instead of a butterfly, and I've always liked the combination of black, vanilla and red in vintage cards, which I thought would work well if the Chalk Talk label was the focal point of the card. From there it was just a matter of finding what I had that I felt would work together.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">I'm also posting this card to the <a href="http://watercoolerchallenges.blogspot.ca/2015/02/wcc17-valentine-challenge.html" target="_blank">Watercooler Valentine Challenge</a>. At the moment, I haven't found anyone to follow me in the Creative Blog Hop next week, since it seems like every blogger I know has already participated. Hoping a volunteer will come along soon... let me know in the comments if you're interested!!</span></span></div>
